Dollar Ganu,
Marriage and Family Therapy Associate
Dollar enjoys providing therapy to couples, families, and individuals; she works with clients age 8 and up.
Dollar’s goal as a therapist is to facilitate a safe environment and support clients in exploring and creating the change they would like to see in their lives. As a teen, Dollar sought to become a therapist as she understood the importance of stories, specifically the ones about ourselves that we tell to others. Dollar deeply enjoys supporting individuals in re-storying their lives in a way that best represents their current selves and their values. She aims to listen earnestly to your story as well as walk alongside you in your change process and in exploring and examining what is important to your life story. Dollar also values community and believes that we impact our communities, just as our communities impact and shape us.
Dollar holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Couples and Family Therapy from the nationally accredited (COAMFTE) Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program at the University of Oregon. Dollar is currently a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in the state of Oregon working towards licensure.
Dollar is systemically trained and focuses on understanding your context and the systems you are part of, so she can better understand your story. She believes therapy is most effective when it is personalized; therefore, she integrates a variety of evidence-based approaches to best cater to you. Primarily, Dollar leans toward the theoretical orientation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
Dollar believes the therapy room is a space where you have agency and where we can collaboratively explore your narratives, the narratives of the systems in which you are a part, emotions, and coping strategies. The time you spend together will be focused on your strengths and areas of your life where you would like to focus attention and see growth, change, and improvement.
Dollar is passionate about Minority Mental Health and works with clients struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression, mood/personality concerns, trauma, eating concerns, and relationship/communication issues.
In her free time, Dollar enjoys conducting research, eating with loved ones, watching movies, and doing arts and crafts activities.
